Over and over and over and over, the Bushies terrorize us with their bull****.

Until the whole country is hypnotized into passive inaction.

Meantime the hypnotists are secretly at work, dismanteling all of what we thought we held sacred: namely the rule of law and everyone, everywhere deserving fairness.


So nineteen young , educated, Arab wierdos commit a suicidal mass murder, and we allow a small bunch of zealous oligararchs pervert our national values, take the lifeblood of our youth and steal billions of our dollars to enrich themselves, all the while trying to install a permanent Republican hegemony to control the destiny of our country well into the future.

And do we react like the believers in the rule of law that we thought we were? Do we start an investigation, and use our legal process to bring the murderers and their accomplices to justice?

Nooo!

We allowed ourselves to be conned by a bunch of liars, and let them take our us into an unwinnable war, in a mood reminiscent of the Crusades and the Dark Ages.

Will we wake up from our passivity and inaction?

Or will we continue to allow these despots, who are using their own form of terrorism, to control our future?

Time will tell.

AMERICA IS SLEEP WALKING INTO THE FUTURE!

Days and Weeks pass.

The news stays pretty much the same.

Continuing disintetration, deterioration, destruction and death in Iran and Iraq.

Continuing suspicion of lying, corruption, ineptness and suppression of dissent by the U.S. Government.

Continuing passivity and obliviousness by the leaders in the U.S. Congress.

Continuing denial by the main stream media.

Where is this going?

THE GOOD GERMANS HAD A BETTER EXCUSE THAN US GOOD AMERICANS!

Frank Rich's article in the NY Times about the Good Germans will hopefully become a watershed commentary in separating reality from fantasy in our current national confusion.

He clearly pointed out that the people of Hitler's German did little to nothing to stop the decline of their country into the slimepit which they still haven't crawled out of.

When the country was finally liberated, the Germans said "we didn't know what was going on." What they had known, was that it was prudent to reamain silent and pretend they saw nothing.

Of course they didn't have a free press, or a history of 250 years of democracy which would have allowed them to challenge that evil dictator who controlled their country.

We don't have that excuse. We still have our freedom to speak out. We now even have the internet which allows us to say anything we want, to the whole World.

We know what our country has done and is doing: lying to its people and the World. Torturing illegally captured people. Using propaganda, government secrecy and illegal wiretaps to try to control dissent in the country.

We Good Americans do not have the excuses that the Good Germans had.

WELCOME TO CRAZYLAND! IT USED TO BE THE LAND OF THE FREE AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE!

So now we have our president saying "We don't torture," when everyone in the World knows that we do.

Is he lying or crazy?

Let's givehim the benefit of the doubt and conclude that he is insane.

And the Congress of the United States, which sits, day after day, DOING NOTHING to stop this almost totally insane behavior by the people of this country, is complicit in this insanity. They have allowed our country to go into an unwinable war. They have allowed private businesses to hire ex military men at hundreds of times the cost of our own soldiers. These hired guns act, if not actually as mercenaries, as close as you can without being called one.

Congress tries to pretend they are powerless to intervene. Are they lazy or acting crazy?
Again: diagnosis, psychosis.

And the rest of us: do we take to the airways, the phonelines or the streets to try to correct this errant irresponsible behavior of our leaders?

No. We sit and watch as if we are helpless to do anything to correct this self destructive course we are on.

Are we stupid, or are we behaving like a severely mentally ill group?

You tell me.

"I Pledge Allegance to the Flag, of the United States of Bush..."

This is the pledge that the Righties seem to believe in.

Bush and Cheney first, America second.

No matter what Bush does or has done, it's just fine with them.

Their loyalty is to this right wing, selfish, class warfare, fascistic, "Ive-Got-Mine-To-Hell-With You", mentality, that has led us into resembling a third world country.

They've trashed those most precious ideals that we thought we stood for: universal rights and respect for all.

We no longer seem to believe in the premises that All Men are Created Equal or that We are A Nation of Laws, not of Men.

They've destroyed our respect for international treaties, including the Geneva Conventions.

And they've desimated the respect the World had for us, since before Abu Graib, Guantanamo, and extreme rendition became our policies.

And we sit and watch our Country disintegrate, before our eyes, with the only people with power to help, the United States Congress, fiddling, while America burns.

Tears and mourning seem to be the appropriate emotions.

WHAT SHOULD THE DEMOCRATS DO?

What should the Democrats in Congress do?

1. Introduce a bill every day dedicated to stopping this stupid war in Iraq and exposing the crimes committed by the Bush administration. This includes more bills to give our troops time home between long deployments and maybe even instituting a draft. And calling hearings on how Bush has used secrecy, propaganda and conspiracy to subvert our Democracy, for example by secretly passing laws EXEMPTING THEM FROM PROSECUTION OF CRIMES THEY HAVE COMMITTED!

2. Let the Repubs try to knock these bills down, again and again.

3. Let the Repubs filibuster to their hearts content: let them use that remedy those hypocrites tried to remove when the Dems wanted to use it.

4. THE DEMOCRATS SHOULD SHUT DOWN CONGRESS. WALK OUT. REFUSE TO SHOW UP. MAYBE PASS BILLS CUTTING OFF FUNDING. GIVE THE NYTIMES AND THE WAPO SOMETHING TO WRITE ABOUT!

5. Demand recorded votes for every bill the Repubs oppose, so the World can see who votes for what.

If a message could be sent to members of Congess it would be:
YOU ARE NOT HELPLESS! YOU ARE NOT POWERLESS! YOU HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO SPEAK OUT FOR WHAT IS RIGHT! YOU HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO TRY TO SAVE OUR REPUBLIC WHICH IS IN DIRE DISTRESS!

THIS IS GETTING SERIOUS: THE DEMOCRATS ARE DOING NOTHING!

Here we are, in September.

The Democrats have made a few feeble attempts at striking back at the Bush administration, only to shrink back at the first signs of resistance.

Of course the Cool Aid drinking Republicans continue to delude themselves that loyalty to this Mafia-like administration will somehow be to their advantage.

Daily, more information emerges at how outrageous this group is.

It has been recently confirmed by Goldsmith, the Bushie, who finally got fed up, was part of a conspiracy to write a law that would protect Bush-Cheney, et al, from criminal prosecution for CRIMES THEY MAY HAVE COMMITTED!!!

DID YOU GET THAT? CRIMES THEY MAY HAVE COMMITTED!!!

So they conspired and got accomplices to help them plan how to avoid prosecution.

If that doesn't sound like obstruction of justice, what does?

And the Demos sit and watch. Has anyone called for hearings to revisit the law that was passed giving these crooks a pass?
